Just as in Uttar Pradesh, SP and Congress are together but there is a tussle going on between the two regarding Muslim votes and SP is worried that if Congress returns, Muslims may go with it, similarly in Delhi there is exactly the same worry. The Aam Aadmi Party is being harassed. Arvind Kejriwal, who has won three consecutive elections on the basis of Muslim and migrant votes of Congress, has to worry about Muslim votes. Congress’s victory of 99 seats in the Lok Sabha elections has increased their concern. They feel that the message is being spread across the country that Congress and Rahul Gandhi are fighting with BJP and Narendra Modi. So it may not happen that the Muslims of Delhi, the majority of whom are Muslims from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, move towards Congress.
For this, Kejriwal is now targeting BJP and Narendra Modi in a more aggressive manner than before and is also running a campaign to break the Muslim leaders of Congress and include them in his party. He has included Chaudhary Matin Ahmed, the strongest leader of Congress in East Delhi, into the Aam Aadmi Party. Before this, he has included Matin Ahmed’s son Zubair Ahmed and Zubair’s wife and councilor Shagufta Ahmed in the party. Kejriwal has made Imran Hussain a minister in his government and has full support of Amanatullah Khan, during whose tenure as Chairman of the Waqf Board, there have been reports of many scams and he has also been arrested in this connection.
