Bharatiya Janata Party has decided its alliance in Jharkhand. Election co-incharge Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that agreement has been reached on 99 percent seats and only one or two seats are left, on which agreement will be reached soon. He has also made it clear that BJP, AJSU and Janata Dal U will contest the elections together. This means that Lok Janshakti Party, another major ally of NDA, will have to contest the elections alone. For the last few days, LJP leader and Union Minister Chirag Paswan was working hard in Jharkhand. He had asked for 11 seats in the alliance or had announced to contest 40 seats alone. Now it is clear that BJP is not going to give him any seat.
But the question is how many seats will Janata Dal U get and where? Saryu Rai, who won as an independent from Jamshedpur West seat, has joined Janata Dal-U. One of his seats is confirmed. But it is not decided whether that seat will be Jamshedpur West or their traditional eastern seat. The western seat is being contested by former Chief Minister and Governor of Odisha Raghuvar Das. It is being said that someone from his family may contest the elections. Similarly, there is no consensus on how many seats AJSU will get. AJSU’s demand is for 13 seats, but BJP is not ready to give more than eight seats.
