Blast near school in Pakistan, 7 including 5 children killed

Islamabad. Seven people, including five school students, were killed in an explosion in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. According to media reports, five children, a police personnel and a pedestrian were killed in a blast that allegedly targeted a police vehicle near Girls High School at Civil Hospital Chowk in Mastung. According to the report of Geo News, initially information about the death of five people was given. Later, two of the injured died during treatment at the hospital. DHQ Medical Superintendent Nisar Ahmed Baloch said that 30 injured, most of whom are school children, are currently being treated at DHQ and Nawab Hospital in Mastung. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Miandad Umrani said that a remote controlled explosive device was fitted in the motorcycle. According to reports, the deceased school students – including boys and girls – were aged between 10 and 13 years. Four policemen are also among the injured. Mustang Deputy Commissioner Mir Baz Khan Marri said that emergency has been declared in both the hospitals. Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the blast and expressed grief over the loss of lives and property.

He expressed condolences to the families of the martyred policemen and school children. Vowing to avenge the blood of innocent civilians including children, Bugti said terrorists have now targeted laborers as well as innocent children. He said that the local people also have to keep an eye on the terrorists among the civilian population. The monster of terrorism can be fought only by uniting. The law and order situation in Pakistan has been affected by terrorist activities, especially in the two restive provinces – Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Many innocent civilians and security personnel, including police and military personnel, have lost their lives in terrorist attacks. Balochistan, along with KP, remains vulnerable to terrorist activities, according to a report released by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS). Over the past few months, the two provinces have accounted for 97% of the total 722 deaths in the first three quarters of this year.
