Almora. A major accident has come to light from Almora, Uttarakhand. Here a bus full of passengers slipped off the road and fell into a 200 meter deep gorge, resulting in the death of 20 passengers. Children are also included among those who died. This bus carrying passengers from Garhwal to Kumaon met with a major accident on Monday morning. At the time of the accident, the bus was filled beyond its capacity. According to eyewitnesses, the bus had lost control before the accident. The number of deaths in this accident may increase further, because about 40 people were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. According to the information, when the packed bus reached near Kupel village, the driver lost control over it, due to which it fell into a deep ditch. Emergency response teams in the area, including Uttarakhand Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), have been immediately deployed to conduct search and rescue operations. Rescue workers are busy rescuing survivors and taking the injured to the nearest medical facilities.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the situation and has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and property. In a statement on social media, CM Dhami emphasized on giving priority to relief work. He said, “Unfortunate news has come regarding the casualties in a bus accident that took place in Marchula in Almora district. The district administration has been instructed to carry out rapid relief and rescue operations. He also indicated that seriously injured passengers would be airlifted as needed. The local administration, along with SDRF teams are actively working to navigate the challenging terrain to provide assistance to the families of the victims. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and vehicle regulation in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
