Vaikuntha Chaturdashi 2024: Chaturdashi date comes in every month, but Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month has special significance. It is known as Baikunth Chaturdashi. On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.

According to religious beliefs, a person who worships Lord Vishnu and Bholenath on the day of Baikuntha Chaturdashi, attains heaven and after death gets a place in Vaikuntha Dham.

On the day of Baikuntha Chaturdashi, offering Tulsi to Lord Shiva and Belpatra to Lord Vishnu has special significance. On this day, observe a fast after bathing and worship Lord Vishnu with lotus flowers at night. It is believed that Lord Vishnu worshiped Lord Shiva on this day.

When is Baikunth Chaturdashi 2024?

The day of Baikunth Chaturdashi is considered a holy day dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. This year in 2024, Baikunth Chaturdashi is falling on 14 November. It falls a day before Kartik Purnima. Only on this day in the whole year, Shri Hari is worshiped along with Lord Shiva.

Baikunth Chaturdashi fast is considered to have special significance in Hindu religion. On this day, one should take bath in the morning and resolve to fast. According to the scriptures, devotees who worship Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva with a thousand lotus flowers are freed from the bondages of the world and attain Vaikuntha Dham.

It is believed that by worshiping a lotus, Lord Vishnu experiences complete bliss and the devotee gets auspicious results.

After fasting on the day of Baikunth Chaturdashi, 14 lamps should be lit on the banks of the river when the stars come out. On this day, Lord Vishnu should be worshiped after taking a ritual bath, and he should be offered food with basil leaves.

What to do on the day of Baikuntha Chaturdashi

Lord Vishnu is worshiped ritually on this day. Lord Vishnu is worshiped and aarti is done with incense, lamp, sandalwood and flowers. On this day Bhagavad Gita and Sri Sukta are recited and Lord Vishnu is worshiped with lotus flowers.

By meditating on Shri Vishnu and listening or reading his story, all sins are destroyed. By chanting mantras and reciting stotras of Lord Vishnu, a person attains Vaikuntha Dham.
