Chandigarh. Campaigning for all 90 assembly seats in Haryana has ended. The campaign ended at 6 pm on Thursday, October 3. After this, candidates of the parties and their supporters will contact the voters door to door till 36 hours before the voting. Voting will be held simultaneously on all seats on October 5. On one hand, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has entered the election fray to make a hat-trick by winning for the third consecutive time in Haryana, while the Congress, which has been losing in two elections, is hoping to return to power. Apart from these, Aam Aadmi Party and some regional parties have made the elections interesting.
Jananayak Janata Party, which surprised everyone by winning 10 seats last time, is fighting the elections this time in coordination with the Azad Samaj Party, while the Indian National Lok Dal, which was in power for many years, contested the elections in coordination with the Bahujan Samaj Party. The leaders of both these alliances put full emphasis on the election campaign. BSP chief Mayawati also held several rallies.
According to the Election Commission, the number of registered voters in the state is a little more than two crore, who will decide the fate of 1,031 candidates contesting the elections this time. 20,629 polling booths have been made for elections in Haryana. A total of 1,031 candidates are in the fray in the elections, out of which only 101 are women. That means less than 10 percent women candidates are contesting the elections, the most prominent face of which is Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who is contesting from Julana seat. Apart from them, Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini is contesting from Ladwa seat, Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda from Garhi Sampla Kiloi seat and Abhay Singh Chautala from Ellenabad seat.
In the last election i.e. in 2019, BJP had won 40 seats while Congress stood second. It had got 31 seats. Before the last elections, BJP removed Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and made Naib Singh Saini the Chief Minister and tried to reduce anti-incumbency. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge of the campaign for BJP. He held four public meetings in Haryana. When Prime Minister Modi sought votes by attacking the Congress rule of 10 years ago, the Congress sought votes by pointing out the shortcomings of the BJP government’s work of 10 years. On behalf of Congress, Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP government by calling it a government of businessmen. Rahul Gandhi also addressed a rally on the last day before the campaign was called off. Before this he had also traveled for two days.
