New Delhi. Amidst the increasing tension with India, Canada is so nervous that it is not hesitating to take action even against friendly nations. It has blocked the social media account of ‘Australia Today’ after it aired a press conference of Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. India has raised questions on this step of the Canadian government. Australia has also raised questions on this.
Actually, Canada has blocked the social media account of an Australian media organization ‘Australia Today’. People in Canada are not able to see them. This came hours after the joint press conference of Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong. In the press conference, Jaishankar had raised the issue of Canada accusing India without any evidence. The Ministry of External Affairs has given a statement on this entire matter.
The Ministry of External Affairs has said that soon after S Jaishankar’s press conference, Canada blocked the social media pages and handles of the Australian channel. India said- Such actions expose Canada’s hypocrisy towards freedom of expression. On this step taken by the Justin Trudeau government in Canada, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said – We have come to know that the social media handle and page of an important migrant outlet in Canada has been blocked. This action came just hours after External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar’s press conference with Penny Wong was telecast. We were surprised by this action. This once again exposes Canada’s hypocrisy towards freedom of expression.
