Mumbai. Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday said all party rebels contesting against the official candidates of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance have been suspended for six years. According to Chennithala, district units have been asked to prepare a list of all the rebels who are still in the fray for the assembly elections to be held on November 20. Congress Maharashtra in-charge Chennithala said in a press conference here that there will be no friendly contest. All the candidates contesting against the official candidates of MVA have been suspended (from the party).
The opposition MVA includes Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar). Chennithala said the MVA’s election manifesto would be released on November 10. He said Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as well as the Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Telangana will campaign for the MVA candidates. Kharge will stay in Maharashtra for five days from November 13. Whereas, Rahul Gandhi will campaign on 12,14 and 16 November and his sister Vadra will seek votes for MVA on 13,16 and 17 November.
