Julana Vidhan Sabha Election Result: Vinesh Phogat of Congress has registered a spectacular victory in Julana assembly seat of Haryana. He defeated his nearest rival, Captain Yogesh Bairagi of BJP, in a tight contest by a margin of 6015 votes. Vinesh Phogat got a total of 65,080 votes, while Bairagi got 59,065 votes. Surendra Lather of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) stood third, getting 10,158 votes. Jananayak Janata Party’s Amarjeet Dhanda stood fourth and Aam Aadmi Party’s Kavita Devi stood fifth, receiving 2,477 and 1,280 votes respectively.

Congress had turned the election battle into a riot by fielding famous wrestler Vinesh Phogat from this seat. At the same time, BJP placed its bet on Captain Yogesh Bairagi, who is considered a Dalit face. A total of 12 candidates including Surendra Lather from Indian National Lok Dal and Kavita Devi from Aam Aadmi Party were in the fray for this seat. Julana is a Jat dominated seat and is one of the 5 assembly seats in Jind district. The position of Congress and BJP was weak in the last elections on this seat, which came into existence after the delimitation of 1967. In the 2019 elections, Amarjeet Dhanda of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) had won this seat, where he defeated Parminder Singh Dhull of BJP by about 24,000 votes. Dharmendra Singh Dhull of Congress had then got 12,440 votes. BJP is still waiting for its first victory on this seat.
Regional parties dominate Julana seat
Regional parties have always dominated Julana seat. Till now 13 assembly elections and one by-election have been held here. This seat has been continuously held by regional parties since the 2009 assembly elections. In 2009, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) wrested this seat from the Congress, and subsequently, in the 2014 elections, INLD’s Parminder Singh Dhull won, where he defeated Congress candidate Dharmendra Singh Dhull.
There are a total of 1,82,021 voters in Julana assembly seat, which includes 97,559 male voters, 82,786 female voters and 2 transgender voters. Additionally, there are also a total of 1,674 service voters, which include 1,630 males and 44 females. Due to this diverse voter base, the political importance of Julana seat increases even more.
