Darul Uloom Deoband lifts ban on entry of women, ban on videography

Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh). The long-standing ban on women’s entry into the famous Islamic educational institution Darul Uloom Deoband has been removed. Now women will be able to enter with a two-hour visitor pass. Women will have to follow purdah. They have been allowed to roam around the campus with strict rules. A member of the Deoband organization said that the management system of the organization ended the ban on women from entering the Darul Uloom campus of Deoband. Women have been allowed to roam around the campus with some rules. After several rounds of talks, the Darul Uloom management system has prepared a rule book regarding the admission of women coming from India and abroad into Darul Uloom, following which women will be given admission.

He said that now the Darul Uloom management has appointed an officer to issue visitor passes to enter the campus of the institute. Aadhaar card or voter card or PAN card form will have to be shown to the concerned officer in the visitor pass. In one column of the form, details of visitor’s name, mobile number, address, number of visiting members (male and female) etc. will have to be given. Women will be allowed to enter the institution before the end of the day i.e. till sunset. There will be a ban on eating food while sitting in the institution premises. The validity of the pass will be two hours. Women will not be able to visit in the evening.

There will be a complete ban on videography. It is noteworthy that a few months ago, the Darul Uloom management had banned the entry of outside women during teaching work in the institute. While the women coming to visit the institution from outside were roaming around uncovered, they were also taking photos without hijab in front of the historical buildings of the institution. Besides, by making reels and editing the songs on it, they were being posted on social media. Students’ studies were also being affected. There was a debate on social media over banning the entry of women. Due to this the organization was facing embarrassment. Due to this, the organization had banned the entry of women into the organization.
