Pistol shooter Divanshi won her second individual gold medal in the women’s 25m standard pistol event at the ongoing International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Championships Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Lima, giving India a clean sweep in the event. Junior shooters added five more medals to their account including two gold. Suraj Sharma also won a gold medal in the junior men’s standard pistol event, while Mukesh Nelavalli, who already has four gold medals in the event, got a bronze medal in the event. Diwanshi scored 564 points out of 600 in the Junior Women’s Standard Pistol event, putting her ahead of teammate Parisha Gupta, who scored 559 points. Manvi Jain’s score of 557 ensured India’s clean sweep in the event – ​​a first in the competition. India also secured the fourth position as Shikha Choudhary scored 554 points, leaving her one point ahead of Marja Kirs of Estonia.

Similarly, in the men’s event, Suraj Sharma scored 571 points, and was ahead of Poland’s Ivan Rakistski, who won the silver medal by scoring 568 points. Mukesh also scored 568 points, but won the bronze medal on countback. Harsimar Singh Rattha (565), Rajvardhan Singh Patil (562) and Pradyuman Singh (562) stood seventh, eighth and ninth respectively. In the junior women’s 50m rifle prone event, Melvina Joel Gladson (617.5) was the best Indian by finishing 14th. Prachi Gaikwad (616.7), Khushi (615.1) and Aadhya Agarwal (614.2) and Anushka Thokur (611.9) stood 19th, 26th, 27th and 35th respectively. Melvina, Prachi and Anushka had a combined score of 1846.1, which gave them sixth place in the team event in prone.
