Doctors intensified their agitation

Kolkata. Junior doctors, who have been protesting for 36 days against the rape and murder of a junior doctor of RG Kar Hospital, have intensified their agitation. After the second attempt of talks with Mamata Banerjee failed on Saturday, the doctors decided to intensify the agitation. Former military personnel also joined their agitation on Sunday. Junior doctors took out a mega rally in the metropolis on Sunday and also announced to continue the strike and dharna in front of the Health Building. Meanwhile, the CBI has also arrested former principal of RG Kar Hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, on charges of destroying evidence.

However, the mega rally of junior doctors started from Central Park in Salt Lake at 4 pm on Sunday and proceeded towards Swasthya Bhavan. It is worth noting that the weather in Kolkata has been bad since Saturday. It was raining on Sunday as well, however, regardless of this, hundreds of junior doctors joined the mega rally. Senior doctors also participated in it. A large number of common people also became a part of this mega rally, getting drenched in the rain.

The junior doctors said that they had agreed to hold talks with the Chief Minister at his residence without any conditions, but were asked to go back in a very rude manner. Former military officers also took out a procession from Jadavpur to Gariahat on Sunday in protest against the RG Kar Hospital incident. Retired Major, Brigadier and Colonel participated in it. All of them are alumni of Purulia Sainik School.

On the other hand, in the RG Kar Hospital scandal case, on Saturday, September 14, the CBI arrested former principal Sandip Ghosh and SHO of a police station Abhijit Mandal. According to sources, both have been accused of tampering with evidence. Abhijit Mandal is posted as Station House Officer in Tala Police Station. Late Saturday night, he was brought to BR Singh Hospital for medical test. After this, the CBI took him to Kolkata’s Special Crime Branch. Both were sent to CBI custody till September 17. Ghosh is already in CBI custody. He has been arrested on charges of financial irregularities in the hospital.
