Dussehra 2024: Saturday, October 12 is the holy festival of Dussehra, on this day Lord Shri Ram should be especially worshipped. Along with Shri Ram, it is considered auspicious to include the idols of Lakshman, Mata Sita and Hanuman ji in the worship. By worshiping Shri Ram and adopting his policies in life, a person can achieve success, happiness and peace. From the life of Shri Ram, we learn how to face difficulties with patience and restraint.
Just one night before the day of Sri Ram’s coronation, Mother Kaikeyi asked for two boons from King Dasharatha: first, the throne for Bharat and second exile for 14 years for Ram. The entire scene of Ayodhya changed in a single night. While preparations for the festival were going on, the very next day the people of Ayodhya were extremely saddened by Shri Ram going into exile. This incident teaches us that ups and downs are natural in life, but they can be faced with the right attitude and courage.

This is how Ram ji went into exile
Everything was going well, but at night Manthara corrupted Kaikeyi’s intelligence. Manthara impressed Kaikeyi so much with his words that she agreed to rule for Bharat and send Ram into exile. Kaikeyi stubbornly asked for both her boons from King Dasharatha, and Dasharatha was forced to fulfill her wishes.
When Dasharatha called Ram and told him these things, Shri Ram listened to everything patiently and without any protest happily accepted exile to fulfill his father’s promise. When Ram started preparing for exile, King Dasharatha once again tried to convince Kaikeyi and asked her to stop Ram from going into exile, but Kaikeyi remained firm on her decision.
When Ram started going for exile, Lakshman and Mother Sita also went with him. This incident proved that Shri Ram, following his father’s words, accepted the difficult situations of life with patience and dedication, which is an inspiration for everyone. (Dussehra 2024)
Shri Ram’s teachings
Shri Ram has given the message in this context that we should be prepared for difficult situations. Ram accepted the new circumstances with positive thinking and went into exile. We should keep one thing in mind that it is not necessary that what we think should happen. Sometimes things happen that are different from our thinking, we should adopt those opposite things with positivity, only then we can get happiness, peace as well as success in life.
