Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, died late on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital due to age-related health issues. He was 86 years old. He was the Chairman of Tata Group from March 1991 to 28 December 2012. After that, he once again took charge of the group from 2016-2017. Since then he had been serving as the honorary chairman of the group. He was born on 28 December 1937. During his tenure, he took the Tata Group to new heights and adapted the group accordingly in the era of liberalisation. As gentle as he was in behavior, he was also very strict in business matters. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said Ratan Tata’s demise is “the end of an era”.
