Bengaluru. A special court in Bengaluru has ordered to register an FIR against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Through a petition, the Finance Minister has been accused of extortion through electoral bonds. The court has asked to register a case in this case. Adarsh Iyer of an NGO named Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad had filed a complaint in a Bengaluru court seeking directions to take action against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
This petition was heard on Friday, 27 September. The special court ordered Bengaluru’s Tilak Nagar police station to register an FIR. The next hearing will be held on October 10. The name of BJP national president JP Nadda was also included in this petition. Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad, in a petition filed in the 42nd ACMM Court in April, had complained against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, ED officials, BJP National President JP Nadda, BJP national leaders, then BJP Karnataka President Nalin Kumar Katil, BY Vijayendra.
The complaint states that from April 2019 to August 2022, about Rs 230 crore was recovered from businessman Anil Aggarwal’s firm and Rs 49 crore from Aurobindo Pharmacy through electoral bonds. After this news came to light, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has demanded the resignation of the Union Finance Minister. He asked when Karnataka BJP leaders would demonstrate and march for Sitharaman’s resignation. If there is a fair investigation, then PM Modi and Kumaraswamy should also resign. It is noteworthy that on February 15, 2024, the Supreme Court had banned the electoral bond scheme for political funding with immediate effect. The Supreme Court had declared it unconstitutional.
