New Delhi. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has given clarification regarding the visit to Pakistan. He has said that he is not going to improve relations with Pakistan, but is going to participate in the meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He made it clear that he was not going to hold any talks with Pakistan. Addressing an event in Delhi, Jaishankar said that the only reason for his going to Pakistan was the SCO meeting. It is a multilateral platform. They will not discuss the relations between India and Pakistan there.
The Foreign Minister said on Saturday – Being a good member of SCO, I am going to participate in the meeting in Pakistan. I am a decent man so I will behave well when I go there. Jaishankar also held Pakistan responsible for SAARC, an organization of South Asian countries, not being active. He said- SAARC is not moving forward at present. We have not had any meeting with him for years. There is only one reason for this and that is that one member of the organization is carrying out terrorist attacks on another. Terrorism is an issue with which there can be no compromise.
However, this time the SCO meeting is being hosted by Pakistan and it had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the conference. To participate in this conference, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will go to Pakistan on a two-day visit on October 15. He will attend the SCO Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had given this information on Friday, October 4. This is the first time in nine years that an Indian minister will visit Pakistan after Sushma Swaraj’s visit in 2015.
