It seems that after a wait of three years, the Indian government has started formal diplomacy with the Taliban regime of Afghanistan. Although this is very limited and has just started, it is possible that it will increase in the coming days. In fact, after America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, Taliban took power by overthrowing Hamid Karzai. After that India broke all relations. Projects worth about Rs 20 thousand crores being run by India were also stuck. After that India provided humanitarian aid but did not restore diplomatic relations with it.
Recently, Indian Foreign Service officer JP Singh had met Afghanistan’s Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yakub. Although India has not yet recognized the Taliban regime, things are changing rapidly after JP Singh’s meeting. Within a week of this meeting, the Taliban regime of Afghanistan has opened a consulate in Mumbai. It is reported that he has appointed a person named Ikramuddin Kamil as his consul in Mumbai. It is believed that the Indian government is now slowly moving towards the restoration of diplomatic relations. Beyond this, the Taliban government can also be recognized.
