New Delhi. There is news of the death of Yahya Sinwar, who became the chief of Hamas after Ismail Haniya. However, this has not been confirmed yet. The Israeli army has claimed this but has also said that it will confirm through DNA test whether the deceased is Yahya Sinwar or not. In fact, on Thursday, the Israeli army carried out an airstrike targeting Hamas positions in northern Gaza.
Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar is reported to have been killed in this routine airstrike. However, the Israeli army IDF did not confirm this till late evening nor was there any statement from Hamas. According to the report of ‘Jerusalem Post’, an Israeli army official said that an airstrike was carried out on Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip on Thursday. It is quite possible that Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar has also been killed in this attack.
The bodies of three Hamas fighters were found after the attack. One of these bodies could be that of Yahya Sinwar. At present it is being confirmed. Sinwar’s death will be confirmed after the DNA test report comes. Earlier, an Israeli media group quoted senior army officials as saying that Sinwar had died. Pictures of Sinwar’s alleged dead body have also gone viral on social media.
It is noteworthy that there were three important actors in the attack on Israel on October 7 last year. These included Hamas’s political chief Ismail Haniya, military chief Mohammad Daif, besides Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar. After Haniya’s death in Iran on July 31, Sinwar became the new chief of the organization. Meanwhile, Hamas’s military chief Mohammed Daif was killed in an airstrike on July 13, which was confirmed on August 1. In such a situation, now only Sinwar was left in the top leadership of Hamas.
