Colombo. Sri Lankan leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ODI series against New Zealand after suffering a left hamstring injury while bowling in the second T20 International in Dambulla on Sunday. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) gave this information on Tuesday. Sri Lanka have included Dushan Hemantha in the squad in place of Hasaranga, Hasaranga has returned to Colombo and has started injury rehab at the High Performance Centre. Hasaranga had taken six wickets in two T20 matches, including four on Sunday, and was named Player of the Series. Recently he has had to struggle with injuries, having suffered a hamstring strain during the home series against India in August. The leg spinner is the second player to be ruled out of the upcoming series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Kiwi fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, who scored a hat-trick in the second T20 match, has also been ruled out of this series recently due to a calf injury.
Hasaranga devastated New Zealand’s batting and Sri Lanka bowled out New Zealand for 108 in the second and final T20 match, but the hosts staged a spectacular comeback to win by five runs and level the series at 1-1. But ended. After the match, Hasaranga talked about his injury and said that after this match I may get a break of a few weeks. I think it’s very bad. I wanted to bowl my four overs to reduce their score. I can’t score runs, so I tried to score as many runs as possible (while batting), but I got out. The three-match ODI series will begin in Dambulla on Wednesday and the next two matches will be played in Pallekele on November 17 and 19 respectively.
