Chennai. The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) of Tamil Nadu has predicted heavy rains and thunderstorms in four districts of the state on Saturday. Schools have been kept closed in view of rain and storm. The areas where the Regional Meteorological Center has predicted heavy rain include Theni, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Madurai. After the warning from the Meteorological Department, holiday has been declared in government, aided and private schools in these districts. Along with this, District Collectors have also directed not to run special classes in schools in Tenkasi and Thoothukudi. Similarly, Madurai District Collector has declared holiday in all schools. Apart from this, holiday has been declared in all government, private and aided schools in Theni district also. According to the Meteorological Department, rain has also been predicted in Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram and Tirunelveli districts.
At present, heavy rains are occurring in the western districts of Tamil Nadu, due to which a situation of heavy waterlogging has arisen in many areas of Coimbatore and Tirupur. Apart from the western districts of Tamil Nadu, some areas of Nilgiris, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Erode, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Mayiladuthurai have also been affected by heavy rains. Apart from this, there has been flood in Sellur due to heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday. At the same time, there has been heavy rain in Erode district, due to which there has been waterlogging in roads and residential areas. Also, areas like Modakurichi and Kavandapadi have also been badly affected due to rain. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in different areas of Tamil Nadu during the next 24 hours. During this time he has also expressed the possibility of lightning.
