New Delhi. Diplomatic relations between India and Canada have suffered another major setback. Relations between the two countries have been tense for the last one year but now India has taken a very strict and decisive step and has recalled its High Commissioner Sanjay Verma from Canada. Along with this, India has also decided to recall several other diplomats and officials, about whom there are reports that Canada is considering them suspicious and is monitoring them. Along with this, India once again denied any involvement in the murder of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar and said that this is completely baseless.
The Indian government has said that it no longer has confidence in the Trudeau government of Canada. India has said- We have no confidence in the commitment of the present Canadian government to ensure the security of Indian diplomats in Canada. She can do anything. Earlier, Canada’s High Commissioner to India was summoned by summons. On behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs, it was told that the High Commissioner in-charge of Canada has been summoned and told in very strong words that it is completely unacceptable to baselessly target the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats.
It is noteworthy that India is angry with Canada accusing the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomatic officials of conspiracy in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding its officials and the Justin Trudeau government, in which it was said – The Trudeau government’s activities in an environment of extremism and violence are endangering the safety of officials. We have no confidence in the current Trudeau government’s commitment to ensuring their safety. Therefore, the Government of India has decided to recall the High Commissioner and other officials being targeted.
After this step of the Indian government, the fear of ending diplomatic relations between India and Canada has also increased. It is being told that Canada sent a ‘diplomatic communication to India a day earlier on Sunday, stating that the Indian High Commissioner and other diplomats are persons under observation in the matter related to the investigation in that country. India was shocked by this attitude of Canada. It is noteworthy that India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Sanjay Verma is one of India’s most senior diplomats. He has had an illustrious career of 36 years. Verma, who has been ambassador to Japan and Sudan, has also served in Italy, Türkiye, Vietnam and China. Canada classified such an officer as a person under surveillance. Angered by this, India decided to recall him and other officials.
