Bangalore. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Thursday that he is not guilty and will not resign from his post. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JDS (Janata Dal-Secular) had said that Siddaramaiah should step down in view of the special court’s order in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case. Reacting to their demand, CM Siddaramaiah said that I am not guilty and will not resign from my post. CM Siddaramaiah, while talking to reporters in the assembly premises, said I have not made any mistake. So there is no need for me to resign. Many BJP leaders are on bail, does this not embarrass them? Has any of them resigned? Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said while talking to the media on Thursday, “I am telling the media as the President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will not resign.
Shivkumar said he will not resign. There will be no proposal for CM Siddaramaiah to step down. This is a conspiracy of BJP and JDS. They are unable to tolerate the success of guarantee schemes. These statements have become important because the BJP has intensified its agitation in the state demanding the resignation of CM Siddaramaiah. The party also protested in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the assembly premises. BJP leaders and workers were detained for attempting to gherao the assembly. Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah chaired a meeting with State Home Minister G. Parameshwara, Law Minister HK Patil, Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor, Congress MLA AS Ponnanna and legal experts. Future action was discussed in the meeting.
In fact, the special court had ordered to register an FIR and investigate against him in the Muda case. CM Siddaramaiah is also presiding over the cabinet meeting in the Assembly. Sources said that he will seek the support of the Council of Ministers and make an announcement in this regard. The cabinet meeting is also expected to consider the option of approaching the President against the alleged biased action of Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot against CM Siddaramaiah. A special court in Karnataka on Wednesday directed the Lokayukta to investigate against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over alleged irregularities in the Muda scam. The court has asked the Lokayukta to submit a report in three months and also directed the competent authorities to register an FIR.
