I had to make big changes in my bowling: Varun Chakraborty

New Delhi. Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy bowled amazingly in the second match of the T20 series against South Africa. He took 5 wickets for 17 runs in the second match of this series. However, his strong performance was not enough to lead the team to victory, but Chakraborty changed his pace and laid a dangerous web of googly and dismissed Aiden Markram, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jensen, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. Pulled off the upset and achieved the best T20 International figures of his career. Chakraborty told that after not doing anything special in the first match with the Indian team, he had to change a lot in his bowling. He said that I watched videos of my bowling and improved a lot in it. He also explained why it is difficult for batsmen to understand his balls. “It is a combination of both my consistency and overspin,” he said. The overspin I bowl on gives more variation than the pitch.

Hopefully I will continue to do this and become a good option for the team. All I want is to play for a long time with the Indian cricket team and hopefully I will be able to do well. Chakravarthy concluded by saying how a clear mindset has helped him approach the games. He said, “I would say that more than confidence I am focusing on clarity. This is helping me more now. Sometimes I feel that confidence can lead me in the wrong direction and make me believe that I can do something impossible, so I think it is better to focus on clarity. I am focusing more on that.
