India became Asian Hockey Champion

India has become the Asian champion of hockey for the second time in a row and fifth time overall. India has won the Asian Champions Trophy by defeating China. India defeated China 1-0 in the final match held on Tuesday. The final match was played at the Moqi Hockey Training Base in Hulunbuir city of China. India remained undefeated in this tournament. India reached the final by defeating South Korea by a big margin.

In the final match, the only goal of the match was scored by Jugraj Singh in the 51st minute. China’s team could not score a goal even after four quarters. India got four penalty corners while China got five. But both the teams could not convert them into goals. Earlier, in the match for the third place, Pakistan defeated South Korea 5-2. India had defeated Pakistan in the league round.

However, in the final match of the Asian Champion Trophy, the match between India and China was a tie in the first three quarters. In the first quarter, Indian players created many chances, but China’s defenders and goalkeeper showed excellent play and did not let them convert into a goal. In the second and third quarters, China performed very well and created many chances, but India did not let a goal be scored.

The Indian team scored the first goal in the fourth quarter and took a 1-0 lead over China. Jugraj Singh scored this goal for India in the seventh minute of the fourth quarter. Captain Harmanpreet passed the ball to Abhishek, after which Jugraj deflected inside the D and scored a goal. In the 56th minute of the match, China removed its goalkeeper to equalize the Indian lead. But China failed to score a goal. Jugraj’s goal proved to be decisive.
