New Delhi. There has been a slight improvement in India’s position in the Global Hunger Index but it is still at 105th position. In the Global Hunger Index 2024, many nutrition related parameters have been assessed in 127 countries, in which India is at number 105. Last year, India was ranked 111th out of 125 countries and before that in 2022 it was ranked 107th out of 121 countries. In this way, it can be said that India’s situation in the year 2024 is slightly better as compared to the last two years.

However, India’s Hunger Index score is still 27.3 which remains serious. According to this list, the condition of Pakistan and Afghanistan is worse than India. But countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, Sri Lanka are performing better than India in saving their people from hunger. It is noteworthy that the Global Hunger Index shows what is the situation of starvation in any country. This list is prepared every year by Concern Worldwide and European NGOs named World Hunger Help. The index is prepared after assessing four parameters in different countries around the world.

Earlier, there was controversy in India regarding the Global Hunger Index report of 2023. India had rejected this report. Then India was ranked 111th in the list of 125 countries. According to this, the situation of hunger in India is serious. This year also, despite slight improvement, India’s situation is not very good.
