Mumbai. The Indian Stock Market closed with gains on Tuesday amid uncertainty over the results of the US elections. At the end of trading, buying was seen in all sectors except FMCG and media. The market was open in a limited range in morning trading. The market started rising after 1.30 pm. BSE Sensex closed 694.39 points or 0.88 percent higher. On the other hand, NSE Nifty closed at 24,213.30 after rising 217.95 points or 0.91 percent. Nifty Bank ended at 52,207.25 after rising 992 points or 1.94 per cent. The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed at 56,115.45 after rising 330.90 points or 0.59 per cent. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed at 18,503.45 after rising 78.80 points or 0.43 per cent. Buying was seen in Nifty’s Auto, IT, PSU Bank, Financial Services, Pharma, Metal and Reality sectors. JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. Whereas, ITC, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, L&T and Sun Pharma were the top losers. The market trend remained positive. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 2,476 shares were trading in the green, 1,473 shares were trading in the red.
Whereas, there was no change of any kind in 109 shares. Market experts said that Nifty has got support around the historical swing low for the second consecutive day. On the technical front, a piercing line candlestick pattern has appeared on the daily chart, indicating a possible bullish reversal. Additionally, the positive divergence on the daily RSI further strengthens the case for an uptrend. The Indian rupee closed steady at 84.10 per dollar on Tuesday, while it had closed at 84.11 per dollar on Monday. Regarding rupee, experts said market participants are closely monitoring FII activity as any significant buying or selling could impact the rupee’s movement along with the US election outcome. On Monday, the Indian stock market fell by 1,300 points. However, there was some recovery at the end of trading and the Sensex closed 941.88 points or 1.18 per cent lower. On the other hand, Nifty closed at 23,995.35 after falling 309 points or 1.27 percent.
