Instructions to remove threatening posts

New Delhi. Amidst the continuous threats to domestic and international flights of Indian airlines, the Government of India has asked social media platforms to remove such posts. The Ministry of Information and Technology has asked all social media including platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram not to allow news like bomb rumors to be transmitted through their platforms. Earlier, the IT Ministry had held a virtual meeting with all the social media companies.

Now the government has said – If someone does this on their platform, then it will be their responsibility to immediately remove such false news and inform the government about those doing such acts. Otherwise they will have to be prepared to face consequences under the IT Act and the Indian Judicial Code 2023. It is worth noting that for the last few days, rumors of a bomb in an airplane are being spread continuously. In the last two weeks, more than 280 flights were threatened with bombings. Now, along with planes, hotels have also started receiving such threats. According to a report on Saturday, 12 hotels in Andhra Pradesh and Ahmedabad have received threats.

However, the IT Ministry has said that due to the option of forwarding, reposting or retweeting news on social media platforms, news like bomb rumor is taking a dangerous form and is affecting the safety of passengers as well as the country’s security and economy. There is a possibility of this happening. The government has said that it is the responsibility of all social media platforms to stop such posts from running on their platforms and to remove them immediately and inform the government about those posting such posts within 72 hours.
