Jaspreet Bumrah created history, became the first player in the world...

Jasprit Bumrah : Jasprit Bumrah is one of the strongest pillars of the Indian cricket team. He has been a key contributor to India’s victories in world cricket. Irrespective of the conditions or the format, Bumrah has always played his part in India’s success. This was clearly seen in the first Test match against Bangladesh, where Bumrah proved that he does not need favourable conditions to perform brilliantly.

After the first few overs, there was not much movement on the pitch for the fast bowlers, but Bumrah’s brilliant bowling helped India take four wickets against Bangladesh to bundle out the opposition for 149 runs. His unstoppable bowling showed that he can prove to be a match winner for India in any situation.

In the second innings, Jasprit Bumrah gave India an important breakthrough by taking the wicket of Zakir Hasan. With this wicket, Bumrah became the first bowler in the world to take 47 international wickets in 2024. Bumrah is at the top position in 2024 with 47 wickets in 14 matches across all formats. He is followed by Hong Kong’s Ehsan Khan, who has taken 46 wickets. In Test playing countries, after Bumrah, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga is in second place with 43 wickets.

Should Bumrah be rested in the Kanpur Test?

Bumrah was not certain to play in the series against Bangladesh but India included him in the squad because Bangladesh had shown that they can challenge any team by defeating Pakistan 2-0, and India did not want to take any risk. (Jasprit Bumrah)

The second match will be played in Kanpur, where the wicket is likely to be more favorable for spinners. In such a situation, this could be a good opportunity for India to rest Bumrah and give Kuldeep Yadav a chance. Bumrah did get some time off after the T20 World Cup, but given India’s upcoming busy schedule, which includes three Tests against New Zealand and five Tests against Australia, it is important for India to manage his workload.

This Test series against Bangladesh could be the perfect opportunity to give Bumrah a rest so that he remains fresh for future challenges. The second Test will begin in Kanpur from September 27.
