Kejriwal to get permanent bail or interim bail?

This is the million dollar question because elections are here again. During the Lok Sabha elections, the Supreme Court had granted Arvind Kejriwal interim bail for 21 days so that he could campaign for his party. This was the first decision of its kind. However, the Supreme Court itself kept this decision as an exception and did not allow former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to come out of jail and campaign like Kejriwal.

It is a different matter that a special court in Delhi made the Supreme Court’s decision a precedent and granted 21 days interim bail to Rashid, an engineer imprisoned on charges of helping terrorists, for election campaigning. Think about it; earlier Rashid was not granted bail to participate in the proceedings of Parliament but he has been granted bail for campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir.

On this basis, it is being said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party is contesting elections in Haryana and since he is in jail, he should also get bail. On the other hand, almost all the people arrested in the alleged scam in Delhi’s liquor policy got bail. Now it cannot be said that only a few are in jail.

But in the last three days, Sameer Mahendru and Arun Pillai and another businessman also got bail. Before this, Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha also got released from jail. So, now only Arvind Kejriwal is in jail in this case. He too has got bail from the Supreme Court in the ED money laundering case. Now he is waiting for bail in the CBI case. So who knows, he may get permanent bail.
