Manohar Lal Khattar has played the most important role on behalf of BJP in Haryana elections. He had the maximum influence in ticket distribution. As per his wish, a large number of leaders from other parties were included in BJP and they were also given tickets. Naib Singh Saini is also his choice as Chief Minister. He also campaigned most actively for the party in the beginning. But as the campaign progresses and BJP gets feedback, their role will start reducing. In fact, even before the elections, it was being said in Haryana that if Khattar continues to be active like this, then the strategy of removing him and reducing the anti-incumbency of his nine and a half year rule will not be successful.
So, many leaders were in favor of sidelining Khattar even before the announcement of elections. They did not want Khattar to be too active or his face visible in the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects. But at first the top leadership of BJP did not understand this. When BJP realized this at the end of the election campaign, they removed him from the campaign. Khattar was removed from BJP’s election posters at most places. He was not given a place even in the posters of election rallies. He even stayed away from every rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi except one. He shared the stage with the Prime Minister only in Hisar. At other places he stayed away from the camera. Not only this, the BJP leaders campaigning in the state are not taking the name of Khattar nor are telling the achievements of his government.
