Indian badminton player Kiran George continued his impressive winning streak at the Korea Masters and reached the men’s singles semi-finals by defeating Japan’s Takuma Obayashi. In the quarterfinal match held on Friday, the Indian player defeated Obayashi in straight sets 21-14, 21-16 in just 39 minutes. Even in his fourth match against Obayashi, George maintained his unbeaten record. In the first game, the 24-year-old Kiran took a 5-1 lead and extended it to seven points at the mid-game break. They won the first game 21-14. In the second game, world number 44 George played strongly.
Despite initial struggles from the Japanese player, Kiran took a lead of 11-8 and maintained it to win the match 21-16. Now George, who is the only Indian player in the BWF Super 300 badminton tournament, will face number one seed Kunlawut Witidsarn of Thailand in the semi-finals on Saturday. Earlier, Kiran George had entered the quarterfinals by defeating third seed Chi Yu Jen of Chinese Taipei 21-17, 19-21, 21-17.
