New stories of use of social media in politics are emerging. The latest story is that the leaders have created YouTube channels with their brave children and Facebook and X accounts have also been created for their channels. On these channels, not only other news etc. are broadcast, but also a campaign is carried out against the opponents of the concerned leader. Many old and retired journalists are also involved in this work and many emerging journalists are also involved, who did not get a place in the mainstream media. Many platforms are fighting the battle here or there on ideological grounds, but the work of many platforms is to cheer the concerned leader and target his opponents.
Recently many such stories came to light regarding Uttar Pradesh. Deputy Chief Minister of the state Brajesh Pathak was vilified through the channel of an old journalist. His fault was said to be that he did not give the credit of BJP’s victory in Haryana to Yogi Adityanath, but rather said that the responsibility given to us under the leadership of Modi was successful. For this crime Azim, the journalist called Brajesh Pathak a ‘snake in his sleeve’, ‘enemy of BJP’ and ‘one who cannot win the election of a village head on his own’. In this context, people are giving the example of a scene from the movie ‘Three Idiots’ and saying that the speaker may have been a journalist but the words belonged to someone else. However, there are many such platforms which are run by the brave sons of one or the other leader. It is noteworthy that Manohar Shyam Joshi, the proponent of the concept of ‘heroic boyhood in literature’, had said that the job of brave children is to praise their teacher and defame the teacher’s enemies. YouTube channels and social media platforms are now available to do this work.
