Patna. The great festival Chhath is celebrated in Bihar. On Thursday, the third day of this four-day festival, a large number of Chhath fasting people are reaching various ponds and reservoirs including the banks of Ganga to offer prayers to the setting sun. Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also offered Arghya to the setting sun at the Chief Minister’s residence. Nitish Kumar’s family members are performing Chhath Puja at the Chief Minister’s residence, One Anne Marg.
Arrangements have been made to offer Arghya to Lord Bhaskar. Nitish Kumar offered Arghya to Lord Bhaskar here and worshiped him. Apart from his family members, many officers and employees were also present on this occasion. After offering Arghya, he went out to inspect the Ganga ghats of Patna. BJP national president JP Nadda and Nitish Kumar will take stock of the Ganga ghats. A crowd of people of faith has gathered at various Chhath Ghats in Patna.
It is noteworthy that on Wednesday evening the fasting people worshiped Lord Bhaskar and performed Kharna. With Kharna, the 36-hour waterless fast of the devotees started. On Thursday, the third day of the festival, Chhathavrati, people reach various water bodies including rivers and ponds and offer Arghya to the setting sun. Tight security arrangements have been made at the ghats. The fast of the devotees will end only after offering Arghya to the rising sun on the fourth and last day of the festival i.e. Friday. After this, the fasting person will again take food and water and perform ‘Paran’.
