The number of claimants for the place of Bharatiya Janata Party National President JP Nadda is increasing. However, currently assembly elections are being held in two states in the country and by-elections are being held in 47 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats of 14 states, hence the discussion about the election of BJP president is decreasing. But the committee formed by BJP under the chairmanship of K Laxman to conduct organizational elections is doing its work and the party will get a new president next month. Before that, that is, until the elections are held, the name of a new contender is coming out every day. So far, serious discussions are going on on more than half a dozen names to replace BJP President JP Nadda.
Everyone knows that K Laxman and his committee will conduct the elections but they will not decide who will become the president. It is for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to decide who will be the national president. The role of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is also not going to be much. After the Lok Sabha elections, it seemed that the role of Sangh in the activities of BJP would increase but after the election results of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, its chances have reduced. The results of Maharashtra and Jharkhand will decide what that role will be. Still, it is certain that only Modi and Shah have to decide about the organization.
The new name for the highest post of the organization i.e. Party President has come from National Organization General Secretary BL Santosh. It is being told that as the Organization General Secretary, he has understood the party’s network in the entire country and he has the confidence of Modi and Shah as well as the Sangh. That is, under an agreement, their name can be agreed upon to satisfy everyone. However, it has never happened before that an organization general secretary from the Sangh was made the national president. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is said to be the Sangh’s choice among the second generation leaders. He has been associated with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and because of this Dattatreya Hosabale and some other officials are supporting him. After the miraculous victory of BJP in Haryana, his stature has increased further.
Some time ago, Shivraj Singh Chauhan was being considered a serious candidate. He is also said to be the choice of the Sangh. If BJP wins in Jharkhand, they will also get some credit. But the top leadership of BJP has objection to his name. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s name also came into discussion to become BJP President for the third time. But that discussion soon died down. It is being said that if BJP had lost in the states after the Lok Sabha and the Sangh had pressed for Shivraj’s name, then Rajnath’s name could have been made. One contender among the second generation leaders is Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav. He is contesting elections in Maharashtra and if BJP wins, his claim will be strengthened. Along with him, names of Vinod Tawde and Devendra Fadnavis have also been discussed. Apart from these names, it will not be surprising if some new and shocking name comes. The name of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also comes up in discussion every now and then.
