Srinagar. Voting for 24 assembly seats in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir was conducted peacefully on Wednesday. Voters participated in the voting in large numbers. According to the preliminary data of the Election Commission, about 59 percent votes were cast in the first phase. Voting took place in most of the seats of South Kashmir in the first phase. In the last election, PDP had won the maximum number of seats in this region. In the second phase, voting will be held on 26 seats on September 25. The last phase will be held on October 1 and the results will be declared on October 8.
However, according to the preliminary data of the Election Commission, 58.85 percent voting took place in 24 seats. According to the commission, the highest voting was 77.23 percent in Kishtwar and the lowest was 46.03 percent in Pulwama. Doda of Jammu region was second in terms of highest voting, where 69.33 percent voting took place. 67.71 percent voting took place in Ramban.
Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and PDP candidate from Bijbehara assembly seat, cast her vote. After casting her vote, BJP candidate from Kishtwar Shagun Parihar alleged that votes were cast without identity cards in Baghwan Mohalla of Kishtwar. After this, voting was halted for some time. In the first phase, more than 35 thousand displaced Kashmiri Pandits living in different states of the country also cast their votes. A total of 24 special booths were made for them. There were four booths in Delhi, 19 in Jammu and one in Udhampur.
