New Delhi. The announcement of the Nobel Prizes given every year has started from Monday, October 7 with the announcement of the Nobel Prize winners for Medicine. On the first day, October 7, the Nobel Prize in the field of Medicine or Physiology has been announced. The Nobel Prize for Medicine of 2024 has been awarded to Victor Ambrose and Gary Ruvkun. He has been given this prize for the discovery of micro RNA i.e. ribonucleic acid. MicroRNAs reveal how cells in the body are formed and function.
Both genetic scientists discovered micro RNA in 1993. Human genes are made up of DNA and RNA. Micro RNA is part of basic RNA. So far, more than a thousand genes of different types of micro RNA have been discovered. However, from October 7 to 14, there will be an announcement of awarding Nobel Prize to people who have done excellent work in fields like science, economics, literature and peace. The Nobel Prize will give a cash prize of 11 million Swedish Kroner i.e. approximately Rs 8.90 crore.
