New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached America to participate in the meeting of Quad, a group of India, America, Japan and Australia. His plane landed at Philadelphia airport in America at around 8 pm according to Indian time. During his three-day visit, the Prime Minister will also attend a session of the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. This session has been named ‘Summit of Future’. Instead of addressing the annual meeting of the General Assembly, Modi will address this conference. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will deliver a speech on behalf of India in the General Assembly.
The Prime Minister reached Philadelphia at 10 am US time. From there he will go to Delaware, where the Quad meeting is to be held in Wilmington, President Joe Biden’s hometown. Apart from the Quad meeting, there will also be a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden. In this meeting, Modi’s visit to Russia and Ukraine and efforts for a peace agreement between the two countries can be discussed. In the meeting between Modi and Biden, an agreement can be reached on space cooperation between India and America.
However, apart from Prime Minister Modi, US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will also attend the Quad meeting. China’s aggression may be discussed in this meeting. White House spokesman John Kirby has said that China will be discussed in the meeting. On the second day of his US visit, Prime Minister Modi will meet the people of the Indian community in New York. He will also meet the CEOs of major companies.
On the third day of his US visit, Prime Minister Modi will address the ‘Summit of Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly meeting. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called it a conference held once in a generation. Prime Minister Modi can also hold bilateral meetings with other global leaders apart from the United Nations General Assembly meeting.
Before leaving for the US, Prime Minister Modi wrote on the social media platform Quad – I look forward to joining my colleagues President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Albanese of Australia and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan at the Quad Summit. This forum has emerged as a major group of like-minded countries working for peace, progress and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
