There is no less mourning in India than in West Asia or other Islamic countries over the death of Hasan Nasrallah, the chief of Hezbollah, which was formed to fight Israel. The Muslims of India are agitated. Muslim leaders of Kashmir were the first to join the mourning of Nasrallah’s death. After that, a large number of people from Kashmir to Kolkata and Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, came out on the streets and mourned. Generally, Indian Muslims are not involved in the international affairs of the Muslim community. The Muslims of India had kept themselves away from the activities of Baghdadi in Iraq to Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan. But for two reasons, Indian Muslims have joined public protests against Hamas and Hezbollah.
The first reason is that India has not declared Osama bin Laden or Al Zawahiri’s Al Qaeda and Baghdadi’s Islamic State like Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations. Many countries of the world have declared them as terrorist organizations but India has not done so. In India, if they are not considered freedom fighters then they are not considered terrorists either. Therefore, there is no legal or moral obstacle for the Muslim community in coming out in their support or killing their leaders.
The second reason is that Israel has always been an enemy in the eyes of the common Muslim and its ongoing war against Hamas for the last one year has gradually created a feeling of hostility towards it in the minds of the people. It is noteworthy that on October 7, 2023, Hamas had launched a massive attack on Israel. Killed or kidnapped people. Most of the Israeli hostages are still in the custody of Hamas. After two days it will be one year since this war. Meanwhile, after Hamas, Israel also started a war against Hezbollah and Iran has also joined this war. Then there were more protests after the killing of Hezbollah Chief.
A few days ago, Hamas chief Ismail Haniya was killed in an Israeli attack. But there were not so many protests at that time. But since the scope of the war has spread and now along with Hamas, organizations like Hezbollah and Houthi have joined the fight against Hamas, Muslim countries like Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Iran have also joined. Therefore, Nasrallah’s death became a bigger issue. However, Israel killed Nasrallah on September 27 in a major strike under Operation New Order. The next day, on September 28, first Hezbollah informed that its chief Nasrallah had been killed and then Israel gave detailed information. Then Kashmir was most affected.
