Assembly elections are being held in two states immediately after the Lok Sabha elections. Considering the way the Bharatiya Janata Party suffered a setback in the Lok Sabha and its 63 seats were reduced, the BJP should have contested the elections in these two states more systematically. He should have created a new story and gone among the public with new issues. BJP also needed a new strategy because BJP is in power in both the states i.e. Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. He has been in power in both the states for 10 years. BJP had earlier joined the government in Jammu and Kashmir in coordination with PDP and directly controlled the governance there by imposing President’s rule from November 2018. In this way, it can be said that double engine government has been running in both the states for 10 years.
Still, on what issue are Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah or other BJP leaders asking for votes? In a very pathetic manner, BJP leaders are asking for votes on the same issues on which they had asked in 2014. In 2014, BJP had sought votes in the name of ending terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Even then Narendra Modi had described National Conference, PDP and Congress as parties supporting terrorists. It is a different matter that after winning the elections, BJP coordinated with PDP and formed its government.
The leader of the party which was accused of being a sympathizer of terrorists and separatists was made the Chief Minister. First Mufti Mohammad Sayeed became the CM with the support of BJP and after his death his daughter Mehbooba Mufti became the CM. Now Prime Minister Modi is seeking votes by accusing the same Mehbooba Mufti’s family members of ruining Jammu and Kashmir. How pathetic is it that after ruling for 10 years, BJP is seeking votes in the entire election in the name of burying terrorism in the underworld and on the other hand, there is news that candidates of independent and small parties having support of Jamaat and fundamentalist groups are BJP is giving help. The overall situation is that BJP neither has any story of its own nor does it have any positive issue in the elections being held after 10 years.
