Srinagar. After winning from Budgam and Ganderbal seats in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, Omar Abdullah has decided to leave Budgam seat. After leaving this seat, he will remain the MLA of Ganderbal. After the decision to leave Budgam seat, he expressed his gratitude to the voters of Budgam. Omar Abdullah said that he will always be grateful to the people of Budgam who voted for him. But he will have to leave this seat. He wrote on social media platform X, I will always be grateful to the people of Budgam, who voted in my favor. He further wrote, “I regret that as per the rules I will have to vacate one of the two seats. I promise the voters of Budgam that I will always consider myself their representative and will do my best to solve their problems in the next five years. Let us tell you that Omar Abdullah has won from two assembly seats, due to which as per the rules he will have to vacate one seat.
Omar Abdullah termed it a tough decision and said that he will always be with the people of Budgam. Ganderbal seat is considered the stronghold of Abdullah family. This is the reason why he has decided to remain MLA from this seat. Protem Speaker Mubarak Gul gave information about Omar Abdullah leaving Budgam seat in the Assembly on Monday. He announced in the House that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has vacated the Budgam assembly seat. Omar Abdullah has previously represented the Ganderbal seat. He was also the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2009 to 2014. This is the first elected government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in the year 2019 and Omar Abdullah has become the first Chief Minister of this Union Territory.
