'One Nation-One Election' approved

New Delhi. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal of ‘One Nation One Election’. According to sources, the Union Cabinet has approved the report of the committee headed by Ramnath Kovind. It is being told that the committee led by Ramnath Kovind had already submitted its report to the central government regarding ‘One Nation One Election’. It has been suggested that the elections of Lok Sabha and State Assemblies should be held simultaneously in the country. Apart from this, the committee has recommended that the local body elections should also be held soon after the completion of Lok Sabha and State Assembly. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing to implement the ‘One Nation One Election’ policy first during its current tenure. There is a discussion that the central government may soon bring a bill related to it. It is noteworthy that the Modi government had formed a committee regarding ‘One Nation One Election’ during its second term, former President Ramnath Kovind was made the chairman of this committee.

Apart from this, many more members have also been included in this committee. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the countrymen from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day last month, had mentioned ‘One Nation One Election’. PM Modi had said that the country will have to come forward for One Nation One Election. Frequent elections create obstacles in the progress of this country. Today it has become easy to link any scheme with elections, because elections are held every three or six months. Every work has been colored with the color of elections. Therefore, the country has had extensive discussions. He further said that all political parties have put forth their views. I request the political parties of the country from the Red Fort, keeping the tricolor as a witness. I request the people who understand the Constitution that for the progress of India, so that the maximum use of India’s resources can be made for the general public, we should come forward for ‘One Nation One Election’.
