Kolkata. In the case of rape and murder of a junior doctor in RG Kar Hospital, CBI has made it clear that there was no gang rape in this case. The CBI, which is investigating the case on the orders of the court, has filed its first charge sheet, in which it has rejected the allegation of gangrape. The agency says that the arrested accused Sanjay Roy had committed the crime alone. CBI has reached this conclusion after taking statements of about one hundred witnesses and conducting 12 polygraph tests.

It is noteworthy that the police had arrested Sanjay Roy on August 10, the next day of the incident. Earlier, on the morning of August 9, the victim’s body was found in the seminar hall of the hospital. It was told in the postmortem report that the victim junior doctor was bleeding from both the eyes, mouth and private parts. The neck bone was also broken. However, Sanjay is still claiming himself to be innocent. Sanjay was identified by the police from CCTV footage. In the footage, he was seen entering the seminar hall at four in the morning on August 9.

Junior doctors in Kolkata, West Bengal are continuously protesting demanding justice regarding this incident. Six junior doctors have started an indefinite hunger strike from October 5. Monday was the third day of the ongoing hunger strike at Dorina crossing in Dharmatala area. Doctors also questioned the role of CBI and said that they want justice in this case as soon as possible. Junior doctors are adamant on their nine demands including removal of Health Secretary NS Nigam and fixing accountability for corruption in the health department.
