Opposition walkout from JPC

New Delhi. There was uproar and controversy for the second consecutive day in the meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to consider the Waqf Bill. Opposition MPs walked out of the meeting for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. The opposition once again alleged that JPC Chairman Jagdambika Pal is not working as per the rules. Opposition MPs complained about this by writing a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The leaders who complained include Congress members Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, Imran Masood, DMK leaders A Raja and MM Abdullah, MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee. Opposition MPs say that Jagdambika Pal favors BJP. On the other hand, BJP MPs alleged that the opposition members were misbehaving with the Speaker. A day earlier, in Monday’s meeting, a presentation was shown against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and the Karnataka government, against which the opposition had staged a walkout.

On the second day of the meeting i.e. Tuesday, there was a heated debate between NDA and opposition MPs. During the parliamentary committee meeting of the Waqf Amendment Bill on Tuesday, the opposition accused the BJP MPs of using objectionable language. After this he walked out of the meeting for the second consecutive day.

There was a heated exchange between the MPs of the party and the opposition regarding the proposal to include women in the Waqf Board. The dispute between BJP’s Nishikant Dubey, Dilip Saikia, Abhijeet Ganguly, Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee and Congress’s Gaurav Gogoi started. It is noteworthy that the Central Government had introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill on July 28. However, when opposition parties objected, it was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee on August 8.
