PM's speech on newspaper reports

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come out to give an election speech after a long time. For the first time after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections, the Prime Minister addressed election rallies in Kurukshetra in Haryana and Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. It was expected that the Prime Minister would go beyond the speeches given in the Lok Sabha elections and say something new. He would talk about his experience of running a coalition government and present a roadmap for the development of these two states. But his speech was largely a response to the news published in the newspapers in the last few days or a counter attack on the opposition leaders by answering the points raised in their speeches.

For example, on the day of the Prime Minister’s rally, i.e. Saturday, a news came that a journalist of Indian origin was misbehaved with by Congress people in America. That journalist had gone to interview Overseas Congress chief Sam Pitroda. However, Pitroda was not there at the time of the misbehavior and Rahul Gandhi had not even reached that city. But the Prime Minister made this news an issue in his speech and said that India’s son was mistreated in America. There are many issues to attack the Congress, but was this such an issue on which the Prime Minister should attack the Congress in the Haryana rally?

Similarly, it was mentioned prominently in the Prime Minister’s speech that now even Ganpati is being put behind bars. He said this based on an incident from Karnataka which was reported in the media. Actually, during Ganpati immersion in Mandya, Karnataka, two communities got into a fight. In protest against this incident, people of Vishwa Hindu Parishad reached the town hall with the idol of Ganpati to protest. There was no permission to protest, so the police confiscated the idol and kept it in the police van. The Prime Minister presented this incident in such a way as if the Congress government is arresting Ganpati and putting him behind bars.

The Prime Minister also made an issue of Rahul Gandhi’s speech in America and said that the royal family of Congress is going to end the reservation of Dalits and backward classes. However, Rahul meant exactly the opposite. When he was asked when reservation will end in India, he said that when equality comes and equal opportunities are available to everyone, then reservation will end. This simply means that reservation will never end. But BJP felt that since Rahul has used both the words ‘reservation’ and ‘end’, it should be said that he wants to end reservation. Similarly, Mallikarjun Kharge had said in Jammu and Kashmir that if the opposition had got 20 more seats, all the BJP leaders would have been in jail. Prime Minister Modi also countered this in his speech.
