Pollution increased in Delhi, air reached severe category

New Delhi. As the temperature drops, the air quality in the capital Delhi has gone from very poor to severe category. Since Diwali, the air had been continuously in the very poor category. But due to high temperature and wind speed it was not becoming serious. But on Wednesday, as the temperature dropped in Delhi, the sky was covered with fog and smoke. Also, for the first time this season, the city’s air reached severe category on Wednesday.

According to the bulletin of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the average air quality index, AQI, of the city was recorded at 418. Delhi had the worst air in NCR. The air quality remained very poor in Gurugram, Noida and Greater Noida, while the air quality in Faridabad remained in the poor category. The Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the ruling Aam Aadmi Party after the air quality fell into the ‘severe’ category. BJP also urged the Delhi government to immediately close all schools up to class five.
