Poor student Gautam will now study in IIT Dhanbad

New Delhi. Using the special powers granted under Article 142, the Supreme Court has ordered the admission of poor Dalit student Gautam Kumar in IIT Dhanbad. While ordering admission on Monday, September 30, the Supreme Court said- Talented students should not be disappointed. Cannot let such talent go. While giving the order, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said to the student present in the court, ‘All the best, do well’.

It is noteworthy that Atul could not get admission due to financial constraints. He was not able to collect Rs 17.5 thousand as fees on time. When the money was arranged, the time for depositing the fees had already passed. That’s why he did not get admission. But Atul did not give up. He appealed first to the Jharkhand High Court and then to the Madras High Court. At last he reached the Supreme Court.

After hearing Gautam’s case, the court said – We cannot lose such a young talented boy like this. He went to Jharkhand Legal Services Authority. Then he went to Chennai Legal Services Authority and then he was sent to the High Court. He is a Dalit boy, who has to wander from door to door. The court said- He is the son of a daily wage labourer. He is an excellent student, he has good knowledge of technology. In its decision, the court ordered to provide all facilities including hostel to the student. The Supreme Court said that this will not affect the admission of students who have already taken admission in IIT Dhanbad, but the students will be given admission on additional seats.
