Bhubaneswar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the Odisha government’s flagship initiative ‘Subhadra Yojana’. Modi launched the Subhadra Yojana at a function organized at Janata Maidan here. The scheme was one of the key election promises of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the state during the 2024 elections for Odisha. More than 70,000 women from across the state participated in the program. On this occasion, in his address, Mr. Modi said that Nari Shakti (women empowerment) is a major mantra for the development of Odisha and the Subhadra Yojana launched by the BJP government of the state will strengthen the social and economic security of women here. Under the scheme, each beneficiary will get a total of Rs 50,000 in installments, which will be deposited directly into their bank accounts. He expressed satisfaction over the new BJP-led government for providing the benefit of Subhadra Yojana to more than one crore mothers and sisters in Odisha. He also congratulated the beneficiaries and said that they have now joined the RBI’s digital currency project.
He said that all the promises made during the 2024 elections have been fulfilled. He mentioned the opening of all four gates of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, opening of the Ratna Bhandaar (treasury) of the temple and provision of Rs 3,100 per quintal MSP for paddy procurement from farmers in the state. The Prime Minister assured that under the double engine government, there will be significant development in road and rail infrastructure in Odisha in the next five years and the middle class population of the state will greatly benefit from it. Shri Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several railway and national highway projects worth more than Rs 3900 crore on the occasion. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi thanked the Prime Minister for launching the Subhadra Yojana. He extended greetings and best wishes to the Prime Minister on his birthday today on behalf of his Council of Ministers, MPs, MLAs and 4.5 crore people of Odisha.
Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida said that the Subhadra scheme is the guarantee of the Prime Minister and the commitment of the BJP. She informed that the scheme aims to benefit one crore women, out of which 72 lakh women have already completed the registration process. On the occasion of the launch of the Subhadra scheme, more than 25 lakh women received the first installment of Rs 5,000 in their bank accounts. Beneficiaries will get Rs 10,000 in two installments every year for five years, which will be a total financial assistance of Rs 50,000 between 2024-25 and 2028-29. This amount will be deposited in the accounts of the beneficiaries on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day. Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram and Annapurna Devi as well as ministers, BJP MPs and MLAs were present at the event.
