Radha Yadav was India's 'best fielder' against Sri Lanka

Dubai. Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav was given the Best Fielder award for her spectacular catch in India’s massive win over Sri Lanka in the Women’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday night. In this Group A match played on Wednesday 9 October in Dubai, Team India proved to be the best on every front, the most important of which was fielding. While in the last two matches the Indian fielders were giving up easy catches, in this match the attitude of the Indian players was completely changed. Excellent catches by Radha Yadav, Renuka Singh and wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh played an important role in giving India a big win. Firstly, the batsmen performed brilliantly and scored a huge score of 172 runs at the loss of just three wickets. After this, all five bowlers took wickets and during this period their economy rate was quite good, while the fielders took excellent catches. In this way, India defeated Sri Lanka by 82 runs and reached second place in Group A with a net run rate of 0.560. Fielding coach Munish Bali praised the Indian team for its excellent performance on the field. “Great performance…we took 9 catches and made one stumping,” he said in a video posted on BCCI.TV.

There was no mistake on even a single ball. He praised the excellent fielding of Shefali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh Thakur and Sajna Sajeevan before declaring Radha as the best fielder of the match. Reflecting on India’s win, head coach Amol Majumdar said, “What a win. For the next 3-4 days we will remain on the ground as much as possible. You have done your job on the field. One day over… all ticks remained correct. Good teams, bad teams, dominant teams always remember their losses, remember that. Sri Lanka is out of the tournament after three consecutive defeats, while India is back on top of the Net Run Rate (NRR) scale. The Indian women’s team will now face six-time champions Australia in their last group stage match on Sunday.
