Rajnath inaugurated new Sainik School in Jaipur

New Delhi. In line with the government’s vision to set up 100 new Sainik schools across the country in partnership with the private sector, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday formally inaugurated a Sainik School in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The Defence Ministry issued a statement saying that the ministry has approved 45 of these 100 schools in collaboration with state governments, NGOs and private schools and forty of these schools have started operating. Sainik School Jaipur is one of these 40 schools. The Defence Minister expressed confidence that this school will prove to be a boon for the patriotic youth of the state as they will be provided with proper guidance and necessary infrastructure to join the armed forces and serve the nation. He said Rajasthan is the land of brave warriors like Maharana Pratap, Prithviraj Chauhan, Maharaj Surajmal and Sawai Jai Singh. These are inspiration for the young generation to join the army. This new Sainik School will provide them direction to serve their motherland.

Mr Singh said that the PPP-Model is generally perceived as ‘Public-Private Partnership’, but this collaboration is now moving away from its standard definition, and is now being viewed as ‘Private-Public-Partnership’. “The private sector is now in the driver’s seat of the country’s economy, contributing significantly to agriculture, manufacturing and services sectors. Through these new Sainik Schools, the private and public sectors will come together and provide the best education to our future generations,” he said. The Defence Minister said that the current Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi are brilliant alumni of Sainik School, Rewa. He said that not just the armed forces, students of Sainik Schools can choose any other career and serve the country in their own way. He urged the students to never give up and keep working hard to achieve their desired goals. The 100 new Sainik Schools to be run in partnership mode are different from the existing 33 Sainik Schools already functioning under the erstwhile pattern. These new schools, apart from affiliation with the respective Education Boards, will function under the aegis of the Sainik Schools Society and follow its rules and regulations.

They will impart Academic Plus curriculum to the students of Sainik School pattern, in addition to their regular affiliated board curriculum. The curriculum includes value-based initiatives like gender equality and environmental protection, skill-based training, extracurricular activities, community service, physical training, NCC, tours and excursions and motivational talks. The Academic Plus curriculum aims to ensure holistic development of students to make them contributing members of the nation’s progress. Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence had signed a MoU with Shri Bhawani Niketan Education Society for setting up the new Sainik School at Bhawani Niketan Public School, Jaipur in September last year. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore (Retd) were among the dignitaries present at the inauguration of Sainik School, Jaipur.
