Srinagar. After Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Jammu Kashmir for campaigning. He addressed an election rally in Ramban and targeted the Abdullah family. Rajnath Singh said in the case of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru that if he was not hanged, why would he have been garlanded. It is worth mentioning that Omar Abdullah had said that no purpose was achieved by hanging Afzal Guru. Rajnath Singh also talked about merging Pakistan occupied Kashmir with India.
He said on Sunday, September 8 that the residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir should join India, we consider them our own. Rajnath Singh held a rally for BJP candidate Rakesh Singh Thakur in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir. The Defense Minister said – Pakistan considers the residents of POK as foreigners, but India considers them our own.
Rajnath Singh reiterated his party and government’s line on Article 370 and said- As long as BJP is there, Article 370 cannot be brought back in Jammu and Kashmir. Since Article 370 was removed in August 2019, there have been major changes in security in Jammu and Kashmir. The youth here now keep laptops and computers instead of pistols and revolvers. He said- In the last five years, we have created 40 thousand employment opportunities.
Targeting Omar Abdullah, the Defence Minister said that the National Conference sympathizes with terrorists. I heard that Omar Abdullah said that Afzal Guru should not have been hanged. I want to ask him whether Afzal Guru should have been garlanded? It is worth noting that former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah had said on September 6 that no purpose was served by hanging Afzal Guru, the culprit of the 2001 Parliament attack. He also said that if the opinion of the state government had been taken in this regard, it would never have allowed it.
